Proper Battery Watering Procedures

Use only approved water; distilled water; de mineralized water; or local water which have been filtered and approved for battery use.

NEVER add acid or any foreign materiel to the battery. The use of such additives will void your manufacturer’s warranty.

Have your water tested by a laboratory if you have any doubt about its suitability for battery use. You can also install a water de-ionizing unit.

A watering gun is and accurate and convenient tool to aid in watering as it fills to a pre selected level and automatically shuts off. This will prevent over watering.

Water should be added to the battery when the end of the charging cycle is near. By watering at this time it is certain that overflowing or flooding will almost never occur.

The need to add water varies from weekly to bi-weekly depending on battery usage, battery temperature and design.
Important facts to remember:

Water while battery is near the end of the charge cycle

Do not add water until actual visual inspection shows top of plates are visible

Once a repetitive routine is established, water your battery at that interval to maintain a strong productive battery.

Keep a log to track and maintain your watering routines.
